WHAT YOUR BODY MIGHT FEEL

Lightness, relaxation, and a more gentle physical experience

Manual drainage is a form of treatment distinct from intense or slimming massage. It promotes the well-being of those seeking gentle techniques, movement, and calm, with varying results.

01

A feeling of lightness

A gentle rhythm can relieve the subjective sensation of heaviness in the legs and other areas, depending on each person's needs.

02

Comfort and Softness of the Skin

Body care products provide smooth glide, sensory comfort, and a feeling of well-cared-for skin after the session.

03

A moment of rest

Slow movements can promote relaxation and turn self-care into a mindful break.

How Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage Works

The lymphatic system plays a role in maintaining the body's fluid balance. Manual massage uses light pressure and targeted movements to gently support these processes; it does not require deep kneading or cause pain.

At Sakura, we work with slow, rhythmic sequences tailored to each person’s attention span and individual sensitivity. The therapist observes how the tissue responds and avoids abrupt or forceful movements.

It differs from LPG Endermologie drainage: here, the stimulation is performed exclusively by hand, without mechanical attachments. It also differs from medical treatments for lymphedema, which require specialized care.

Gentleness is a technical choice, not a lack of intensity.

Here's How the Sakura Lymphatic Flow Ritual Unfolds

For 60 minutes, we combine assessment, preparation, gentle movements, and a mindful body care wrap-up.

01

Listen

We discussed heaviness, tenderness, recent habits, and any history that might indicate a need for medical evaluation.

02

Prepare

We pamper the body in privacy and select skincare products that are compatible with your skin and your beauty routine.

03

Accompany

We perform slow, light-pressure manual maneuvers following a sequence tailored to each individual.

04

Integrate

We'll wrap up with gentle movements and simple suggestions for self-care and continuity.

Not everyone needs the same frequency or the same approach. Comfort guides the experience.

A body treatment with Natura Bissé and attention to detail

The Sakura Lymphatic Flow Ritual incorporates premium skincare products from Natura Bissé and, as part of the protocol, SCENS Barcelona. The textures enhance the glide of the hands and the skin’s comfort. They are part of the sensory experience; they do not replace the technique or turn the massage into a medical treatment.

Precision and calm can coexist in the same session.

REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS

What might you notice after manual drainage?

Many people choose this treatment to relax or feel less heavy after periods of inactivity, travel, or strenuous days. Some experience a greater sense of lightness or comfort after the session. The results vary from person to person and do not represent a permanent reduction in volume.

Massage does not eliminate fat, does not “detoxify” the body, and is not a substitute for treatment of medically caused fluid retention. The frequency of visits is determined based on your well-being and an assessment.

An important distinction

Persistent, sudden, unilateral, painful, or unexplained swelling requires medical evaluation. It should not be treated as merely a cosmetic issue.

SAFETY AND EVALUATION

When is it appropriate, and when is it better to postpone?

Before the session, we assess your overall condition, sensitivity, and any medical history that may require additional precautions.

IT COULD BE AN OPTION IF…

Are you looking for a gentle ritual to help you feel light and relaxed?

  • You feel slightly sluggish after days of inactivity or travel, with no cause for concern.
  • You prefer a manual technique that involves light pressure and a slow, steady rhythm.
  • You want physical well-being, without restrictive goals or promises of a toned physique.
  • Do you want to incorporate self-care into a mindful well-aging routine?
SHOULD NOT BE PERFORMED OR REQUIRES CONSULTATION IF…

Safety is the top priority before any massage

  • There is a fever, an active infection, or an open skin lesion in the area.
  • There is a suspicion of thrombosis or sudden, painful swelling in one leg.
  • The patient has heart failure, significant kidney problems, or another condition that affects fluid balance.
  • You are recovering from surgery, undergoing cancer treatment, or have been diagnosed with lymphedema without authorization from your healthcare team.

In these situations, we do not begin the protocol until we have received an evaluation and, when applicable, medical authorization. Sakura does not offer immediate post-surgical drainage.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions About Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Straightforward answers about pressure, fluid retention, results, frequency, and care.

Does manual lymphatic drainage hurt?

It shouldn't hurt. Use light pressure and slow movements. The intensity is always adjusted to your comfort level.

How many sessions do I need?

It depends on your goal. You can choose a wellness session or arrange a personalized schedule after the assessment.

Does it help with fluid retention and heaviness?

It may provide a feeling of lightness for some people, but it does not treat the medical causes of fluid retention. If there is persistent or sudden swelling, medical attention is required.

Is this a body-contouring treatment or a fat-reduction treatment?

No. It's not a sports massage or a weight-loss technique. Its focus is on comfort and the experience of body care.

What skincare products are used during the ritual?

Depending on your skin's needs, we use premium body care products, including Natura Bissé and SCENS Barcelona.

When should I consult a professional before getting a lymphatic massage?

If you have an infection, thrombosis, a serious heart or kidney condition, sudden inflammation, have recently had surgery, or are undergoing cancer treatment, consult your healthcare team first.
