Is it a medical treatment for bruxism?
No. Intraoral Massage at Sakura is an aesthetic wellness treatment. Although it provides great relief from the feeling of a tired jaw and helps to relax the muscles that clench the teeth, it is not a substitute for the use of occlusal guards or dental treatment. We use it to soften the features hardened by this tension.
Is it painful or uncomfortable?
It should not hurt. It is an intense and deep technique, but our therapists adjust the pressure to your sensitivity threshold. Most patients describe the sensation as a “pleasurable release”, similar to having your back decontracted, but on your face. Everything is performed with sterile nitrile gloves.
How many sessions to see the change in the oval?
The effect of rest and “deflated face” is immediate. For a structural change (more pronounced cheekbone, less visible furrow), we recommend a cycle of 4 to 6 weekly sessions. The muscle needs repetition to “learn” its new relaxed position.
